June 2017 Board Minutes

SANDPIPER BAY HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION

June 2017 Board Minutes

BOARD: Tina Eissler, Naomi Patterson, Jane Byus, Ryan Siegfried

MGMT:  Susan Keene, Larry Edwards

The Sandpiper Bay Board of Directors met on June 21, 2017, at 6:00 at MCL. The April financials were reviewed and approved

The meeting was attended by many homeowners who wanted the Board to know of their concerns with the ongoing repairs and also to get answers to questions many had.  The homeowners want to make sure that building repair is the first priority.  All buildings need to be upgraded so there is no damaged or rotted siding or trim.  When repairs are completing done, painting will begin.

QUESTIONS/COMMENTS:
Is building repair bid?  Certain areas of the repair are bid such as chimney caps, roofs, concrete, but Property Services Group does the siding and exterior trim repair.  This service is part of the contract between the Board and PSG.
Why do we need security?  CSI Protective Services is not fulfilling its duties.  Homeowners are upset with car break-ins and no help stopping crime.  Security is a necessary expense because it is required by the By-laws.  The Board will collect bids on this item to see if costs can be lowered.
Chimney caps are another top priority.  Why do we have to pay so much for these caps?  Galvanized metal works just as well as stainless steel and is much less expensive.  The Board felt that this item needed to be replaced with top quality material so no damage is done to the interior after a few years.  Galvanized metal does not last and will be rusted and in need of replacement after a few years.
The homeowners would like to see the monthly minutes and the HOA Guidelines on the website.
Brian Steigler asserted that Sandpiper Bay looks like the projects and needs to be brought up to date.  Bonnie Grimble disagreed with that assessment.  She stated that siding and rotted boards are replaced as money is available.
Why spend money on trees, etc. when buildings are in such bad shape?  The Board must build a budget to meet all homeowners’ expectations.  The Annual Meeting is the time to debate the budget to make sure that all needs are met.

NEW BUSINESS:
  • The Board announced that the swimming pool is open.  It still has key access.  NO ANIMALS ARE ALLOWED IN THE POOL AREA.
  • Signs with No Geese Feeding and Do Not Mow have been placed around the lake.  The board is allowing the grass to grow around the lake to help with the goose population.  The only thing that seems to work is chaser dogs, but that is too expensive.

The meeting was adjourned.
