SANDPIPER BAY HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION

May 2017 Board Minutes

BOARD: Tina Eissler, Naomi Patterson, Jane Byus

MGMT:  Susan Keene, Larry Edwards

The Sandpiper Bay Board of Directors met on May 17, 2017, at 6:00 at MCL.  The Board resumed the April 19, 2017 meeting.
The April financials were reviewed and approved.  The Architectural Committee has one request from Bonnie Grimble to replace her railings on her deck.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
  • The Board tallied the proxies for the rental amendment.  There are 80 eligible homeowners for this question.  The documents state that in order to pass the amendment must have 75% of the eligible voters or 60 homeowners.
  • The amendment had two questions:  a rental agreement which stated that any new buyer must live in the unit for five years before being eligible to rent, and a non-waiver agreement.
  • Sixty-three homeowners voted on the amendment.  The tally was as follows:
Rental agreement…61 yes votes.  The amendment passes.
Non-waiver clause…58 yes votes.  The non-waiver clause fails to pass.
  • The amendment will now be sent to the attorney for recording with the Marion County clerk.  All homeowners will then receive a recorded copy to add to their documents.

NEW BUSINESS:
  • Property Services Group is concentrating its maintenance efforts on East Drive.  Buildings need to have siding and trim replaced.
  • Management worked with Indy Pool & Spa to clean up the pool area in time for its opening on Memorial Day.
  • A unit on south Drive has a roof leak that is caused by a rusted chimney cap.  The Board approved the purchase of the chimney cap and asked Management to get a bid on replacing all 6 caps on that building.
  • There have been several complaints from East Drive residents about people who keep feeding the geese.  Letters have been sent to the alleged geese feeders.
  • The Board purchased signs “Do Not Feed the Geese” to put around the lake.  These signs will be installed this month.
  • The outside water spigots now have a water supply.

The meeting was adjourned.
